Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is a sacred technology that strengthens the nervous system, balances the glandular system, and develops peace of mind. Each class includes pranayama (breathing), yoga postures, deep relaxation and meditation designed to support you being you at your best. It's yoga for everyone; you work at your pace and develop awareness of what is going on in your body and mind. Come strengthen and relax. Classes last an hour and fifteen minutes, give or take a few minutes.

Based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. This method emphasizes precision of alignment in the poses to nurture muscular, postural, mental and emotional balance. In alignment, we find freedom.?? Designed for people who are new to yoga or new to the Iyengar method or who have physical challenges, this class introduces the principles of alignment and the basic yoga postures.

Stress Relief Vinyasa - Michelle Butler

With this style of yoga, practitioners move fluidly through a progression of postures, syncing the body’s movements with the breath which builds awareness of the body. Always varied in style and sequence, this type of yoga builds heat, flexibility and strength. Recommended for all levels looking for a relaxing, soothing, and stress relieving experience, especially those new to yoga or working with special concerns or injuries.

Hatha Yoga-Mixed Levels

No two people are alike and no two bodies are alike. This class focuses on helping you find the individualized yoga practice that is right for you through yoga postures, pranayama (breath work), and meditation. You will receive individual attention from the instructor during class, and instructor will be available for consultation before and after class. Yoga philosophy is interwoven into each class. Some yoga experience helpful, but modifications are offered for those with less experience.

This slow-paced vinyasa class has an emphasis on longer holds and releasing tension and will include exercises to build core strength. Slowing down as we transition through the asana practice creates a meditative, nurturing practice that facilitates endurance, strength and self-awareness. The format of this class includes breath awareness, warm-ups, yoga postures (both standing and seated), and relaxation/meditation.  Basic foundational poses will be offered, along with some opportunities for progression.  For those who are newer to yoga, or who wish to practice in a slower –paced exploration of mind, body and spirit.

 

Children's Yoga - Deborah Thomas Snode

Children love yoga!  In these classes, tailored to their developmental learning stages, children receive all of the benefits of yoga.  Other than improving the overall health and well being of everyone who practices, yoga has been shown to improve test scores, emotional balance, self esteem, behavior,  and concentration and focus.  Yoga also decreases anxiety and reduces the symptoms of ADHD and chronic conditions such as Asthma.  Through yoga, children become more aware of their personal boundaries and more sensitive to the energy of themselves and others. 

  • Preschool Yoga - Children,ages 3 - Kindergarten, explore the movement of body and breath with fun journeys through imaginary lands.  While incorporating songs and games to enhance the community and unity aspects of yoga, they learn, through play, the balance of mind and body, the peace of presence, the freedom of self-expression, and the joy of  connection.  Children are free to use their imagination and participate with sharing their own posture creations.  This class ends with a short resting period for integration. 
  • Kid's Yoga - Children in grades 1 - 5 are ready to be introduced to yoga Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing exercises), and Savasana (resting pose) through individual exploration as well as with partner and group activities and games. They enjoy exploring the movement of body and breath with fun journeys through imaginary lands. They experience, through play, the balance of mind and body, the peace of presence, the freedom of self-expression, and the joy of connection, learning how to de-stress from the demanding world of school and remain happy and well.  This class ends with a short resting period for integration.
  • Teen Yoga - Children in grades 6 - 12 are ready for adult-like asana and pranayama practice with a community theme.  The high activity lifestyles of teens, involving academics, extracurricular activities, and peer interaction, can build stress that can be managed well with practice involving movement and breathing exercises that students can replicate at home.  With the incorporation of partner yoga, they learn that they can find balance and lean on each other for support, while respecting their own and others’ personal boundaries.  This class always ends with restoration and the much desired, meditative resting period allowing for rejuvenation and pleasant well being.
